The worker initially grew suspicious after receiving a message about a secret transaction but was convinced to proceed after the video call, believing that the other participants were real. The scammers used publicly available video and audio to create the deepfakes.

How do Deepfakes Work?

The process typically involves training a model on a large dataset of images or videos of the target person. This model then learns to map the facial features of the target person onto a source person, creating a realistic-looking fake.
